Is it free to join NGS Virtual?

Yes! NGS Virtual is completely free to join. We are a community of volunteer pilots who share a passion for realistic virtual aviation.

What flight simulators are supported?

We support Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS 2020/2024), X-Plane 11, and X-Plane 12. Our ACARS client works with all major flight simulation platforms.

Do I need VATSIM to fly with NGS Virtual?

No, VATSIM is not required. While we are a VATSIM Associate Partner and encourage flying on the VATSIM network for the full ATC experience, you can fly offline or on other networks as well.

Crew Base Manager

Oversee crew base operations, coordinate hub activities, and foster regional pilot communities.

Position Overview

As a Crew Base Manager at NGS Virtual, you'll be responsible for managing one or more crew bases (airport hubs) within our route network. You'll coordinate regional flight operations, organize hub-specific events, monitor route performance, and build a strong sense of community among pilots flying from your assigned bases.

This is a volunteer position requiring 4-6 hours per week. You'll have significant autonomy in managing your crew base(s) while working collaboratively with our operations and scheduling teams to ensure smooth flight operations and an engaging pilot experience.

Important: This is a self-directed role with minimal supervision. You'll need to be proactive, self-motivated, and driven to help NGS Virtual succeed. We're looking for someone who can take initiative and work independently to achieve results.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee flight operations for assigned crew base(s)
Monitor route performance, flight activity, and pilot engagement at your base
Organize hub-specific group flights, challenges, and regional events
Review and recommend route additions, modifications, or removals for your base
Ensure aircraft assignments and fleet distribution are appropriate for base operations
Coordinate with pilots based at your hub to foster community and engagement
Track and report operational metrics, trends, and issues to leadership
Collaborate with the scheduling team on seasonal route planning
Represent your crew base in staff meetings and strategic planning discussions

Requirements

Active member of NGS Virtual in good standing with at least 6 months of experience
Strong knowledge of real-world airline operations and route planning
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Leadership experience and ability to coordinate multiple pilots
Available 4-6 hours per week for crew base management duties
Deep familiarity with assigned crew base region, airports, and route networks
Experience with flight planning tools (SimBrief, flight tracking systems, etc.)
Strong communication skills for working with pilots and staff teams
Data-driven mindset with ability to analyze flight statistics and trends
Passion for operations excellence and community building
